GSM Arena

Thanks for visiting! If you're new here, you may want to receive FREE daily updates to our Posts. So you won't miss a single article we write about technology!

GSM Arena is basically a website that helps you choose a cellphone to buy! When you’re looking for one, of course. It has all the brands and models on the market today. It really helped me choose my phone the Nokia 6120. GSM Arena includes reviews on all the latest phones and it is in my opinion the best and most up-to-date website on the internet.

You have the option to compare certain phone models with features and statistics, as well as what the particular phone scores in Design, Performance and Features. GSM Arena currently has a database on these models: Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, LG, Apple, HTC, i-mate, O2, Eten, HP, Asus, Gigabyte, Qtek, Palm, BlackBerry, Vodafone, Sagem, Alcatel, Philips, Sharp, Toshiba, BenQ-Siemens, Siemens, BenQ, Panasonic, NECWND, Pantechi-mobile, VK Mobile, Haier and Bird. Web 2.0 has arrived!

The increasing use of broadband connections to Net is leading to growth of a new range of things to do online - and different forms of interaction between websites and their users. Web experts are labeling the move under rather vague buzzword “web 2.0″. There is considerable argument about what the term means, but there is agreement that changes are happening online, with more and more innovative services.

Wikipedia - In the space where Encyclopedia Britannica once ruled come a free online encyclopedia in which anyone can submit entries.

Flickr - Yahoo’s popular photo sharing site has become widely popular as a place for people to show the world the digital photos they take. You “tag” your photos with descriptive words so that when others search for something specific, they’ll find relevant photos. For example if you put up a photo of your dog you may accompany the photo with tags like “cute”, “doggie” or “dog”.

Del.icio.us - This is another yahoo site that Yahoo has bought. It allows you to track your favorite things on the web (as well as things like music and books and share sites you have found and bookmarked so that others can discover them). Again you use tags to describe a bookmark and when people try to find site, your bookmark will be shown to them.

Digg - This is a news site, mainly about technology, but an interesting concept. Users submit stories for review, and they decide which stories go on the homepage.

Vimeo - This is a video equivalent to flickr. Once you sign up (free), you can upload your videos and share them with others on your contact list.

Netvibes - This becomes your highly personalized startup page when you get on the Web and easily enables you to organize what content you want.

Writeboard - This is like the sort of whiteboard wheeled out at meetings to capture brain-storming ideas - except it’s on web. It is kind of online word processor where any number of people can login and share ideas.

Myspace - I am sure many of us are familiar with this. This is a leading example of “online social networking”. You can have your own Web page, bands can share music they’re making, and people can “hook up” with like-minded people.

Mon.itor.us - “Mon.itor.us offers an elegant, easy-to-use, web-based solution. Since it is a hosted service, you don’t need to maintain an in-house server, install and configure complex software, or devote time to maintenance and troubleshooting.”

I will try to update this post by reviewing more web 2.0 services.

Which web 2.0 service do you like the most? Share it with us! :-)

Prevx Computer Security Tool 3.0.1 - Review

computersecuritytool Prevx Computer Security Tool 3.0.1 - Review

Official Website

The computer security tool is a scanning suite for windows 2000/XP machines that checks your system for known flaws, unnecessary services, security holes and vulnerabilities that firewalls and anti-virus software don’t cover.

Pros: Simple to follow. The tool updates automatically each time it’s launched.

Cons: In basic mode, the tool doesn’t actually tell you what it’s fixed until after it’s done, which means some service you are using might stop working.

Verdict: A great and simple tool for non-boffin who wants a secure PC.

Have you tried this tool? What do you think of this tool?
