If you havn’t already seen Minority Report - The movie, you should probably go and see it now. This new operating system mimics the one in the actual movie. One of the science advisers from the film and along with some other “visionaries” has created a real-life and working example of the computer system used in the film. It is called G-Speak and was created by Oblong.

This fancy piece of software combines “hand gestures, recombinant networking, and real world pixels. The creators dub it as “the first major step in computer interface since 1984.” This video pretty much sums the whole thing up. Imagine using Google Earth with this! Wouldn’t that be fun?

Only just yesterday, marked the 25th anniversary of Microsoft’s first ever Operating System “Windows 1.0″. It’s hard to believe that without it 1.0 we wouldn’t have XP/Vista or the new Windows 7. Windows 1.0 was one of the first Operating Systems to feature a proper Graphical Interface. It also included some advance features (for its time) like being able to copy and paste, a calender, a note filer, a clock AND one of the first games ever to be integrated into the earlier operating systems, Reversi!

Put short: Shazam Basically listens to the song that’s playing and recognizes it and gives you the name, artist, and album. So its really a “music recognizing” application that can be installed on to your iPhone.

Once the song is recognized It also shows a list of YouTube videos of the song. For example as a song plays on the radio, lets say “New Soul” by Yael Naim , Shazam listens to the song for about 15 seconds then identifies it and shows you all the details you need to know on how to find it. Shazam even shows you where you can buy the song!

I would say this applications is probably most useful when you’re listening to the radio and hear a song you like, but don’t know the artist or song name. Shazam can get that precious song information you need! So far I have not heard of Shazam ever failing in trying to recognize a song. So its pretty reliable. Shazam has over 6 million tracks and is also available on Google’s Android!

I don’t know what it is with me and tall buildings. But this one especially amazes me. There is no name yet for this city-in-a-skyscraper. But what we do know is that it is going to be approximately 8184 Ft tall (2447 Meters!!) and it will be built in Dubai - Jumeirah City. This city-in-a-skyscraper will consume 37,000 megawatts per hour per year, with a 15MWH peak usage, but as the plans show, it has been designed to generate most of it using wind, thermal, and solar power. It has the environment in mind.

Dubai’s current architectural marvel the 3,280 feet-high 200-floor Nakheel Tower (still under construction) is nothing compared to this! The building is so tall that its main elevator is in fact a vertical 125mph bullet train. Personally I do think it looks breathtaking. Everything cool is being built in Dubai at the moment. I need to save up so I can go there for a holiday~

When people think of the term “BitTorrent” they all too often think of piracy and illegal file-sharing. But they shouldn’t. BitTorrent is merely a protocol just like HTTP, FTP, and POP3. So obviously “banning” a protocol like this would be pretty ridiculous, but this hasn’t stopped some Internet Providers and web hosts from doing this. There’s a LOT of torrent sites out there, just make sure you’re downloading legal content. That sometimes can be hard to figure out though. Here’s a place to start… LegalTorrents

Anyway, I stumbled across this when looking for a way to download rar files on my phone. SymTorrent is a symbian application designed for downloading torrents through your Nokia Symbian Series S60 Cellphone. Its the first of its kind to be a fully-featured and complete BitTorrent downloader for the Symbian Cellphone Operating System.

SymTorrent is capable of both downloading and uploading at the same time and saves the status of your incomplete downloads, so you can resume all downloads after restarting the application. There is also a feature to check the status of each file inside a torrent along with othere statistics and properties during the time its being downloaded.

If you want to try out SymTorrent for your Nokia Cellphone it is currently available for mobile devices based on the S60 Platform 3rd and 2nd edition. You will also need to download it directly from the authors Here. From experience the application does not work if you download it from any other site besides this one. I have seen that popularity grew rather fast for Google Chrome compared to Mozilla Firefox and people who use Mac’s or Linux are waiting still for the original release from Google. So CrossOver people have created two versions for Mac and Linux Operating systems.

For those of who don’t know what Google Chrome is, it is an open-source browser project that aims to build a safer, faster, and more stable way for all Internet users to experience the web. The Chromium codebase is the basis for Google’s Chrome browser.

Google has announced plans to support native Mac and Linux versions of Chromium, but they have yet to be released. CrossOver Chromium, however, runs the Windows version of Chromium natively on both Mac and Linux

CrossOver Chromium was developed using CodeWeavers’ Wine development expertise. Wine is an open source technology allowing Windows executables to be run as-if-natively on Intel-based Unix operating systems such as Linux and Mac OS X.

CrossOver Chromium is available as a native Mac .dmg file, or as Linux packages. Mac users can simply drag the .dmg file into their Applications folder. Linux users should use the appropriate tools for their respective Linux distributions to unpack the installer package.

Although I have read some comments on Google Chrome BETA, and from what i’ve read it doesn’t seem like its a very good browser. But you have to remember its still in its BETA stages.
